Relationship Between ISO 14644 and GMP Guidelines

ISO 14644 standards define the physical performance requirements for cleanroom environments — particle counts, air change rates, pressure differentials. GMP guidelines — including SAHPRA requirements, PIC/S GMP, and WHO GMP — overlay additional requirements for pharmaceutical manufacturing environments, covering documentation, personnel, materials, equipment, and processes. Both frameworks apply simultaneously in pharmaceutical cleanrooms — and both must be satisfied to achieve and maintain regulatory compliance.
